Learn the basic techniques of optical drawing, strengthening your ability to see fresh and intently, then record what we see. Develop the formal properties of drawing, such as gesture, line, tonal value, and composition. Use still life, visits to the Museum's galleries, and portraiture to examine the expressive possibilities of graphite pencils, charcoal, and conte crayon. [BEG]
