We will explore the tremendous contributions of three generations of Wyeths; Newell Convers Wyeth (1882 – 1945) was an American artist and became one of America's most well-known illustrators. N.C. created more than 3,000 paintings and illustrated 112 books, including Treasurer Island. N.C.’s son, Andrew Newell Wyeth (1917 – 2009) was one of the best-known American artists of the middle 20th century. And ME Andrew’s son, James Browning Wyeth (Jamie) (born 1946) continued the family artistic tradition, early in his career surrounded by the works of his father and grandfather and trained by his aunt, Carolyn Wyeth. We’ll study several paintings from each generation of the Wyeths which for more than 100 years have contributed to the history of American painting. [ALL]
