Art Unbound: February Vacation Workshops
How can art be used to spread peace or explore freedom? This February, the Worcester Art Museum’s vacation workshops invite young artists to push boundaries, share their voices, and create work that uplifts others. From powerful posters to collaborative installations, each workshop encourages kids and teens to think big, make bravely, and discover the many ways art can shape a better world.
Workshops run from 10 AM to 3 PM and early drop-off begins at 8:30 AM. Each day is $50, or you can register for both days and save $15! All materials are provided.
Free Extended Day is available from 3 pm-5 pm. Space is limited, and registration is required.

Workshop Descriptions:
Artist/Activist
What do you care about -- and how can art give it a voice? Inspired by Nikkolas Smith’s The Artivist, explore how creativity can make a difference in the world. Design your own poster or mixed-media piece that expresses a message of kindness, justice, or hope.
Boundary Breakthrough
What is artistic freedom? What happens when artists break the rules -- or reinvent them? Explore how unexpected materials can transform ideas into powerful artworks. Experiment with building, combining, and arranging materials to create your own assemblage.
Flying Free
Let your imagination take flight! Explore themes of hope, imagination, and freedom, designing and building a paper bird that symbolizes resilience and peace.
Happy Place
Where do you feel most at peace? Imagine and draw your Happy Place — a landscape, room, or cozy corner that makes you feel happy, calm, and content.
Ripples of Joy
Small acts can have a big impact! Create small trinkets that carry uplifting messages and colorful designs. Each creation becomes a ripple of joy — ready to brighten someone’s day when shared or left in the community for others to find.
Good in the Hood
Use art to celebrate freedom and belonging in your community! Explore the joy and diversity of neighborhoods, working together to build an installation full of colorful paper houses that shows how our differences make community beautiful.
Peacekeeper Portraits
Who inspires you to be kind, brave, or hopeful? Create a painting of a hero, helper, or peacekeeper -- from global figures to family members, celebrate the people who bring peace to their lives and communities.
Free to Be Me
We are all unique and that’s what makes us wonderful. In this workshop, practice sharing your story through art and imagery.
Peace in the Streets
Street art and murals bring bold messages of peace to city walls. Explore amazing muralists, design your own street-inspired art, and team up to create colorful indoor wall art out of tape!
