Nan Hass Feldman

Learn the basics of drawing, design, and color as you develop concepts for an abstract painting with recognizable subject matter. Important techniques fused with fun, creative, and original projects will lead you to success in making fine art!

Recommended Supplies

soft ebony pencil

paper pad---pad of Bristol Board, 14x17 or 18x24

thin black-tip marker

soft pastels, such as alphapastels or others (12 or more in a box or 24 half sticks)

kneaded eraser

piece of black and white conte crayon

pump spray fixative or hairspray (small)

acrylics--cadmium red deep, cad. red light, ultramarine blue, pthalo blue, yellow (light or medium), black, white

brushes----variety of sizes including rounds and flats (a card of sizes will work)

palette paper or roll of waxed paper

scissors

12" ruler

First Class

paper pad, soft pencil, black-tip marker, ruler

REGARDING ONLINE CLASSES:
Students should familiarize themselves with Zoom software prior to the beginning of the first class session.  Instructions will be sent on how to create a free Zoom account and how to sign in to the secure Zoom classroom the business day before class begins. Teens are welcome in Online Adult Classes if they are comfortable with the medium.  This class will need to meet a minimum enrollment of 5 students to run.  The class maximum will be 10 students.

HEALTH AND SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS REGARDING COVID

WAM’s goal is to continue to provide enjoyable, educational art classes, workshops and lectures while keeping the health and safety of our students and staff a priority. To this end, the following precautions are currently in place:

• All staff and students are required to wear a mask while attending classes.
• Classrooms will be cleaned and high-traffic areas disinfected frequently.
• Class sizes have been limited to reduce the number of contacts each staff member and student has.
• Class attendance will be taken to provide contact tracing should it become necessary.

CLASS CANCELLATIONS

• If WAM has to cancel a class for any reason, students will be notified and receive a 100% refund.  
• In response to feedback from students, classes planned to be In-Person will not be moved online, but cancelled.

WITHDRAWALS

• A 90% refund will be granted for any student that notifies us at least 5 business days before the beginning of class. 
• If a student experiences a health or family emergency after class has begun, please notify us as soon as possible, and we will work with you.
