Workshop Descriptions:

Magic in the Stars: Mythical Constellations
Explore the constellations! Paint and design your own “night sky” filled with mythical creatures and legendary heroes, connecting stars to stories.

Dragons of the East and West
From European dragon-slaying knights to benevolent Eastern dragons, this workshop dives into the iconic dragon myths of different cultures. Use mixed media to design your own dragon puppet, deciding if it will be fierce, friendly, or magical!

Into the Labyrinth
Discover mythical creatures of the world and design your own labyrinth maze. Bring your labyrinth story to life, designing a character to navigate it, who will encounter challenges and mythical beasts along the way.

Legends of the Sea
Dive into tales of mermaids, krakens, and selkies, and craft your own ocean creature masks. Add glitter and gems to give your sea creature masks a mystical touch!

Hero Shields
Inspired by shields and symbols in the museum, design your own “hero shield,” illustrating symbols of strength, courage, and wisdom. Use cardboard, paint, and foil to create a shield that represents your unique hero qualities.

Enchanting Amulets
Learn about amulets and protective symbols from Ancient Egyptian traditions. Using paper, craft a small bag or box, to hold an amulet or trinket that is meaningful to you!

The Sword in the Stone
Discover tales of legendary weapons, like Excalibur, Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi, and Mjolnir. Make your own “legendary weapon” out of cardboard, paint, and foil, designing it with symbols of power or magic.

Pieces of History
Dive into the ancient art of mosaics, using colorful tiles and stones to create your own small mosaic masterpieces that tell a unique story. Inspired by historic techniques, learn how mosaics have been used to convey legends, cultural symbols, and personal tales across the ages.

Gods and Goddesses
Explore Greek and Roman myths of gods and goddesses depicted in art. Turn yourself into a god, goddess or superhero of myth, creating a life-sized collage inspired by the artwork throughout the museum!

Stained Glass Stories
Discover the stories captured in glass! Inspired by the beauty of stained glass, create vibrant paper "glass" art that captures a meaningful story or scene. Experiment with colors and shapes, learning how light can enhance storytelling.
