25AWHST - ONLINE Neoclassicism and Romanticism: The Art of Early 19th-Century Europe
03/06/2025 - 03/13/2025

Martha Chiarchiaro

Thu (4/3 & 4/10) 10AM-11:30AM

The political turbulence in Europe between the French Revolution of 1789 and the Revolutions of 1848 across Europe saw great changes in art, sculpture, and architecture. Compare and contrast the Neoclassical styles of Jacques-Louis David and Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres; the Romantic paintings of Théodore Gericault and Eugène Delacroix; the art of William Blake and J. M. W. Turner in England; and the works of Caspar David Friedrich in Germany.

Zoom links will be sent out approximately 24 hours before the first session begins. If you are unable to attend the Zoom session live, a recording of the lecture will be made available to you via email shortly after the meeting concludes if you have registered for this session.
