Develop drawing skills while expanding your ability to observe and render what you see. Learn to articulate objects using line, shape, value, form, texture, space, chiaroscuro, perspective, and composition. Covering fundamentals such as composition, aesthetics, and content, each class will focus on a particular design concept. The goal of this course is to have you feel comfortable and confident in creating images from still-life and the natural world.

Student Supply List

Required Materials:

  • Newsprint paper pad (no smaller than 11”x14”),
  • Drawing paper pad (no smaller than 11”x14”, make sure it says DRAWING not sketch),
  • Artist Loft Sketching and drawing pencil set (Can be any brand but this one has a kneaded eraser, sharpener, and blenders.) If you wish to purchase each pencil individually you will need an HB, B, 2H, H, 2B, and 8 B pencil.
  • Vine Charcoal (medium or thick preferred),
  • Pigma Micron 6-piece pen set 
 
Nice to Have:
  • Compressed Charcoal
  • Color Pencils
  • Pastels
  • personal sketchbook of any size
  • pencil sharpener or x-acto knife
  • and some sort of box or carrying case.
 
Instructor will have SOME materials available to be borrowed during class time
