Explore more than two centuries of Black American art. Learn about portraits by Joshua Jackson, the earliest documented professional African American painter. Robert Duncanson, Edward Bannister, Edmonia Lewis, and Henry Ossawa Tanner are notable 19th-century Black artists. We’ll examine artists from the Harlem Renaissance including Archibald Motley, Aaron Douglas, and Augusta Savage. 20th and 21st century artists such as Jacob Lawrence, Faith Ringgold, and Kehinde Wiley will also be featured. $30
